The body of a man killed in an avalanche near Utah's Alta Ski Area on February 8 was recovered one day later. According to reports, the victim was in his 50s.

A series of avalanches in Utah is raising concerns, as one skier was killed by a recent avalanche during the peak skiing season.

Police identified a man who died an avalanche in Silver Fork Canyon near Alta on Feb. 8. The Salt Lake County Sheriff's Department on Monday stated that Higinio Juan Gonzalez, 59, of Salt Lake City, was backcountry skiing with another man between Big Cottonwood and Little Cottonwood canyons when the avalanche was triggered.
