Matt Chapman has already gone to the injured list with a sprained right hand, but the San Francisco Giants third baseman could be out through the rest of the month.
Rafael Devers' long-term position for the Giants remains a huge question mark following his arrival from the Red Sox.
Posey’s bold, brash, and perhaps even reckless trade for three-time All-Star slugger Rafael Devers on Sunday is a big black-and-orange stamp from the new director of baseball operations on the Giants organization.
Robert Murray of FanSided was the first to report that the San Francisco Giants traded for Boston Red Sox designated hitter Rafael Devers. Murray later clarified that Boston received a package of players that included pitcher Jordan Hicks, pitcher Kyle Harrison, outfield prospect James Tibbs III and pitching prospect Jose Bello.
However, the offensive component of that aforementioned blueprint is much harder to execute without Matt Chapman. The five-time Gold Glove third baseman (two-time platinum winner) is currently on the injured list after jamming his right hand while sliding back into first base in a June 8 win versus the Atlanta Braves.
