James Cameron has shared some new details about the upcoming Avatar 3, and it seems like it won't be what you're expecting. The auteur says Avatar: Fire And Ash will make some "brave choices" with its storytelling as we return to Pandora once again.

Cameron makes particular reference to the new character Varang, who will be played by Oona Chaplin in Avatar: Fire and Ash. She's the leader of a clan of Na'vi who are volcano-dwelling, rather than being in the air or sea. He spoke more to Empire about that newcomer, offering:

Varang, the leader of the Ash Clan, is played by Oona Chaplin, arguably known best for her role as Talisa in Game of Thrones. "I didn't quite appreciate how good her performance is until we got the Wētā animation back," Cameron said, praising the actress. "She's an enemy, an adversarial character, but [Chaplin] makes her feel so real and alive."

Cameron noted, “In Avatar 3, we will also explore new worlds while continuing the story of the main characters.” This commitment to storytelling depth signals that the upcoming installment will not merely serve as a bridge between the previous films but will instead mark the beginning of a more intricate narrative journey.

But this time, fans can expect a slight shift in the franchise's familiar moral focus. According to director James Cameron, humans will no longer be the outright bad guys threatening the always peaceful Na'vi.
