Council, an undrafted signee from Arkansas, worked his way from a two-way deal to a standard one and averaged 6.7 points, 2.5 rebounds, and 1.1 assists in 105 games with the Sixers. As Philadelphia moves forward, it decided to cut ties with Council which opened the door for him to sign with the Nets.

The Brooklyn Nets have signed free agent guard Ricky Council IV to a one-year contract, according to ESPN's Shams Charania. Council was waived by the Philadelphia 76ers last week. He marks Brooklyn's first non-incumbent free agent signing of the offseason.
