Fed Chairman Jerome Powell will talk to reporters Wednesday as Trump deems him a “major loser” and a “total stiff.”

Even so, the Fed will almost certainly leave its key rate unchanged at about 4.3% when it meets Tuesday and Wednesday. Powell and many of the other 18 officials that sit on the Fed’s rate-setting committee have said they want to see how Trump’s tariffs affect the economy before making any moves.

The Federal Open Market Committee is scheduled to meet on May 6 and 7, and while the Fed isn’t expected to cut interest rates, the meeting will likely be closely watched by both investors and President Donald Trump.
