The head coach of Benin Republic, Gernot Rohr, has said Nigeria were lucky to claim a draw against his team. Both countries played out a 1-1 draw in their penultimate 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier on Thursday night.

Nigeria’s spot at the next AFCON was already confirmed after Libya defeated Rwanda 1-0 earlier on Thursday at the Amahoro stadium in Kigali. However, the Super Eagles managed a 1-1 draw against Benin, with star striker Victor Osimhen finding the back of the net to level the game after conceding an early goal.

Nigeria know that a positive result against Benin will see them qualify for the next Africa Cup of Nations finals.
