A brawl broke out on the court at a Northern California high school basketball game Tuesday night between Foresthill and Futures high schools.

Deputies in Northern California are crediting a new law for their success in several retail theft operations. The law referenced is Proposition 36 which went into effect on Jan. 1. Prop 36 allows felony charges to be filed for thefts under $950 if the defendant has two prior theft convictions.
