There were power outages Tuesday, but don't blame ERCOT. Ice, snow took down lines in South Texas.
That happened early Tuesday, when ERCOT called on about 4,000 megawatts of battery storage to help meet the morning demand crunch. Those same batteries were charging up during the day to be ready for when the sun goes down and demand spikes again for the evening temperature drop.

In the Corpus Christi area, a winter storm warning inland and a winter weather advisory remains in effect through 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to the local office of the National Weather Service. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to 1 inch and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch are possible. Winds gusts could be as high as 40 mph.
