Numerous countries around the world are facing the prospect of new tariffs on their exports to the United States on Aug. 7 because they haven’t yet reached a trade deal with the Trump administration.

South Africa faces a 30% tariff on its exports to the United States starting next week, a move expected to cost tens of thousands of jobs after the country failed to secure a trade deal before a deadline set by U.

Economic data out Wednesday showed trade turmoil wasn’t holding back the U.S. economy, but the Federal Reserve left rates unchanged, citing fear of inflation.
