The lumber yard's grand opening will be held Aug. 29 and 30 and will feature a hot dog stand, a charity chicken barbecue, and giveaways including Buffalo Bills tickets and a Dewalt drill kit.

Lumber Yard Supply's roots were planted in 1886 in Bathgate, N.D. when John Burns Robinson and John Mahon, Canadian-born friends who farmed about 30 miles apart, established a retail lumberyard.

The price of framing lumber, which is used for building, is currently about $1,300 per 1,000 board feet, up from $500 per 1,000 board feet in December. Lumber yards are offering similar advice.
