US President Donald Trump on Monday said he has started setting up a bilateral meeting between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, following a summit at the White House with Zelensky and European leaders.

The Ukrainian leader's visit to the White House in February ended in a heated argument. Monday's meeting with President Trump was less fraught.

President Trump has offered only vague assurances of security guarantees for Ukraine if President Volodymyr Zelensky agrees to cut a deal with Russia.
