The Ironman 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley returned on a cool, cloudy Sunday with more than 1,100 competitors, supported by nearly 1,000 volunteers, swimming, biking and running through Centre County.
To put on an event like Ironman — a course that comprises two counties and more than 1,000 athletes — about 1,000 volunteers are needed, said Josh Cone, Happy Valley’s local race director.
Ironman 70.3 Pennsylvania Happy Valley is set to return in the summer of 2025 after another successful race in June. The event will kick off Sunday, June 15, the same day as Father’s Day.
