It's been a long time coming for the Lucas Museum since it was first announced. In 2016, the museum was initially set to begin construction in Chicago near Lake Michigan. After a Chicago-based organization named "Friends of the Parks" filed a lawsuit over the construction on private land,

Lucas was joined on stage by Guillermo del Toro and production designer Doug Chiang, with all three bolstering the case on how narrative art, which includes comic book art, needs to be uplifted and celebrated.

Filmmaking legend George Lucas made an appearance at Comic-Con International for the first time ever on Sunday, where he shared some of his perspectives about humanity, society and storytelling as part of a preview for his new Los Angeles museum that will be dedicated to narrative art.
