Tropical Storm Fernand has formed in the Atlantic Ocean southeast of Bermuda, forecasters said Saturday. Fernand is the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, and it comes on the heels of Hurricane Erin, which formed in a similar area on Aug. 15.

Tropical Storm Fernand is forecast to weaken as it churns over the open Atlantic Ocean, and odds have plummeted for a system to develop near the eastern Caribbean.

Tropical Storm Fernand formed over the weekend, becoming the sixth named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season just after Category 5 Hurricane Erin moved out to sea. Fernand was about 360 miles east-northeast of Bermuda with maximum sustained winds near 50 mph with higher gusts as of the National Hurricane Center's 5 a.
