After forcing thousands of Californians to evacuate and burning more than 100 structures, a stubborn wildfire burning northwest of Los Angeles on Friday challenged firefighting crews working to snuff it out even as fierce winds in the area calmed.

A new wildfire was reported today at 4:52 p.m. in Los Angeles County. The wildfire has been burning on private land. There is no update on the containment progress of the fire and its cause has not yet been determined.

Forecasters in California are using some of their strongest language to warn that windy conditions may help fires spread this week.
