Tournament jointly organized by NHL, NHLPA will expand calendar of international competition featuring League's players

The 4 Nations Face-Off is the league’s first best-on-best tournament since the 2016 World Cup. NHL players will return to the Olympics in 2026 for the first time since 2014 after not participating 2018 and 2022. The league also committed to the 2030 Olympic Winter Games.

MONTREAL (AP) — The World Cup of Hockey is returning three years from now. The NHL and NHL Players’ Association unveiled plans Tuesday to host a tournament in early 2028, aiming for February. The goal is to have an international tournament every other year, with players going to the Olympics in 2026 and ’30.
