Vanderbilt baseball is heading to Louisville, Kentucky, for its first rivalry contest of the week in the annual "Battle of the Barrel" at Jim Patterson Stadium. Vanderbilt got on the board first with Rustan Rigdon scoring on a wild pitch in the first inning.

On May 6, Nye took the mound against Louisville at Jim Patterson Stadium, with the game serving as a test for how he would perform against a step up in competition. Although Vanderbilt lost, 5-4, Nye put up a solid performance with two runs allowed in five innings. He got a no-decision.

Alabama's formula was nearly identical from Saturday as the Crimson Tide got a gem from starting pitcher Zane Adams. Adams gave the Crimson Tide six innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, while striking out five batters.
