The newest member of the San Francisco 49ers is 20-year-old edge rusher Mykel Williams. The 49ers added the 6-foot-5, 265 lb defensive end in the first round of the 2025 NFL draft with the No. 11 overall pick.

John Lynch and Kyle Shanahan were relieved that 49ers’ top pick Mykel Williams escaped the NFL Draft’s top-10 slots to land on their recalibrating defensive line.

The 49ers see Williams as the bookend for Nick Bosa they’ve been seeking since Dee Ford started having injury issues during the 2019 season.
