The Chief Minister made this statement while responding to Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh's remarks on the Ken-Betwa river linking project, Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone on the occasion of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee's 100th birth anniversary on Wednesday.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said that the Congress' agenda was never to do developmental work and through PM Modi the river linking schemes came to the state.

The project was first envisaged following a feasibility study by the National Water Development Authority (NWDA) in 1995 at a cost of ₹1998.74 crore

Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa river linking project in Madhya Pradesh. He highlighted Dr B R Ambedkar's contributions to water resource development. The project aims to provide drinking water to millions and generate hydropower and solar energy.

New Delhi, India Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of the Ken-Betwa River Link Project at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh. On this occasion, he also inaugurated the Omkareshwar Floating Solar Project in Khandwa district of the state virtually.

The Ken- Betwa river linking national project is the country's first interlinking of rivers project under the national perspective plan.
