A squadron of firefighting aircraft and convenient water supplies were key in saving Brentwood and Encino from the growing Palisades fire last weekend.

The death toll from the 21,596-acre wildfire that leveled much of Pacific Palisades increased to five and while fire crews slowly extended containment of the blaze to 11%, the fire made a late push to the northeast,

Families who evacuated the wildfires in the Palisades area unable to find their relatives can get support through local services.

An epic aerial assault was underway Saturday as a fleet of aircraft worked to prevent the Palisades fire from hitting homes in Brentwood and Encino. A shift in winds late Friday sent the fire north and east through the Santa Monica Mountains,
