There are 2 hikes available here. Unfortunately we had to settle for the much shorter one because of our tight schedule. It was quite an easy hike, with very beautiful and scenic views of the water. …Full review by Mohamed S

The Akchour waterfalls are well worth a visit. They are only a short drive away from Chefchaouen. We visited on a weekend and so it seemed busy and there was a bit of queuing but it wasn’t really a p…Full review by 662francesb
Hi all, Probably a silly question but.. I was wondering what the dress code for women was like during the summer months? Is it common to see women swimming in the usual swimwear etc? Also, is there taxi's waiting to go back to Chefchaouen? Thanks in advance!

My friend and I went to the falls yesterday (June). We walked to the area in Chefchaouen where the tacos congregate. They want to take 6 people total in their car, so my friend and I had to wait about 30 minutes for 4 more strangers to join us until we could leave. We got to the base of the hiking trail around 9:30, and there was really no one there yet. We made it to the small waterfall by 10:45 and to the big waterfall by 12:15. The water was absolutely freezing, but we swam any way. There were not a lot of people there at 12:15 but more came around 1:00. Women were dressed all differently - some swimming fully clothed and others in a bikini. I think it’s okay as long as you cover up immediately upon getting out of the water. When we were ready to leave, the parking lot was full and there were plenty of taxis to get back. That was around 4pm.

You do not need a guide to walk to the waterfall. You can reach it by yourself. Take a taxi from the taxi area in Chefchaouen city, it’s 25 dirham per person or 150 for the entire car. When you get to the hiking area, cross the bridge and begin hiking on the LEFT side of the river. You will see a wooden food stand like a restaurant and take the trail that goes up behind the restaurant to the left. Continue following the trail to both waterfalls.

We were with a wedding party so the transportation was prearranged for us. The drive was a little over an hour. The hike up the cascades can be difficult at times but there are beautiful pools and places to stop where beverages and food (tangines) are available. Have fun you will enjoy it.
Hi Grace, your review about paradise valley is very detailed. I just have few questions! :) how long did it take drive, walk, enjoying the place and the lagoon and back to Agadir as I am on a very tight schedule and wanna check if i can make it with my 5 years son. We are not good swimmers at all! :)) shall we get into the lagoon? how deep is it? Thanks a lot!

Hi Ahmad, maybe there are two Akchour's in Morocco - the one I went to was near Chefchaouen and not Agadir. I don't see how you could get from Agadir to Chefchaouen and back in one day. The whole expedition - leaving chefchaouen, walking and getting back - took about 6 or 7 hours. I did not hang around at the waterfall longer than 15 minutes. There is no lagoon, theres a pool of water under the waterfall that turn into a river. The downstream parts are shallow enough to paddle but under the waterfall I'm unsure, it was too dark to see the bottom so I suspect you could swim in it. As there was so much water when I went a swim wouldn't be pleasant or safe due to the amount of water from the waterfall and the strong current. During a drier period I imagine it would be fine just very rocky. I hope this helps
